All about the right way to Break into Show Biz...

More than any other element; talent, money, who you know or any other resources, knowledge is the key. That's right, I said it. How can you expect to be the brightest light in an industry of bright lights, if you have no true understanding of how it works, its' history or other important factors? I often meet newcomers who are quite enamored with the whole thing and see themselves as the saving grace of an industry they consider to be morally corrupt and bankrupt of any real humanity towards those who are dying to get in.

Well, hello...Welcome to Show Business. This is the industry that you chose to pursue. It probably didn't pursue you, unless you are one of those rarely annointed, earthly deities, that the stars in the sky were aligned to bless in the most fantastic and profound ways. Not you, huh? If it's not then you'd better prepare to put that nose to the grindstone, that hand to the fire and that butt perched to be kicked, because that's a very small part of what you're in for. Don't think so? You'd better ask around, or perhaps you should probably read some books that illustrate the true nature of "making it in Hollywood". It's no joke and yes, I know, you're going to be the exception to the rule. You're going to be the one who will not have to go through any of it because of your exceptional talent and the fact that the folks back home voted you the most likely to succeed and you won the local county talent show or high school beauty pageant.

All of these are commendable feats in their own right and the accolades probably well deserved but are relatively insignificant comparative to the scheme of things. It is much easier to sit and pretend that those happenings were and are significant, that they portend the shape of things to come for your budding career. Sadly and unfortunately they do not. What matters from this point on is how serious you take what you claim you want to be or what you want to do. There really is no easy way, but knowledge can definitely make the road smoother. It can help eliminate many of the pitfalls that lie ahead. They are many and all of the things your mommy and daddy told you when you set out on this adventure probably bear some repeating and do have elements of truth to them. But hey, it's your life and you're going to pursue it anyway so, you might as well be prepared. Peace.
